The Kazak rugs include a special type of rugs which have been made in the Caucasus. The very city Kazak is situated in Azerbeidjan close to Baku, but the country of Armenien, Karabagh or Dagestan belong to the caucase too. In the 20 century, the collectors began to appreciate those original rugs, typical for their patterns and elements. The warp of the kazakh carpet is made entirely in wool. The pile is soft and short and the knot is very particular.
There is always an old Kazakh rug in the world famous auctions like Sotheby's or Christies's.
The rather cheap carpets made in Afghanistan called Kazak recently made specially for the market are not comparable with these original kazak.
